Carrie Nixon
Carrie's experience includes work with corporate clients, nonprofit organizations, political campaigns, and state and federal legislatures. In addition to her work with Madison, she is the managing principal and founder of Nixon Law Group. She founded Nixon Law Group with the belief that the best approach to solving clients’ problems is a comprehensive one that unites expertise in law and public policy with skills in strategic communications and coalitions building.
Carrie’s law practice encompasses general commercial litigation and administrative litigation, as well as health care litigation and regulatory matters. She has appeared before state appeals boards and in state and federal courts, and is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Carrie was recently re-elected as Chair of the Providence District Democratic Committee, a local arm of the Virginia Democratic Party. As Chair, she worked to help Barack Obama win Virginia in the 2008 Presidential election. Carrie was a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton and served as Voter Protection Coordinator in Pennsylvania with the John Kerry for President campaign. She was Deputy Policy Director for the U.S. House of Representatives Democratic Caucus under Chairman Vic Fazio.
Carrie is a founding Board member of Hope Street Group, a nonprofit devoted to utilizing the talents, energy and networks of a new generation of professionals to achieve the goal of equality of opportunity in a high growth economy. Carrie served as Hope Street Group's first Executive Director, overseeing the launch of HSG as a nonprofit entity and coordinating media strategy, member outreach, and fundraising efforts. In 2005, she co-founded the New Electoral Reform Alliance for Virginia (New ERA for VA).
Carrie received her JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and is a summa cum laude graduate of James Madison University.
